A WordPress squeeze page offers complete flexibility for testing purposes.

The Efficiency of the WordPress Squeeze Page

The reason a WordPress squeeze page is so great is because there is so many options for expandability and it offers full control over content. For those of you who have little to no web development knowledge, WordPress lets you edit a page for testing purposes very easily. Instead of having to hire a developer to make changes, you can simply log in and make the changes yourself. This way, you can split test different ad copy, images, as well as take advantage of different plugins for SEO and the like.

How a WordPress Squeeze Page Works

When we actually look at the page itself, depending on what the purpose is, it’s not going to look much different than a non-wordpress squeeze page. The only difference is that we’re now using WordPress as the back end. With that said, there’s a couple ways of going about it.

Option 1: Editing a Theme

If you’ve got some coding knowledge, you could take an existing theme that’s of basic structure, with a clean neutral layout, and edit it to have a form, a slider image, and some info. This would be perfect for a basic WordPress squeeze page to get leads. Instead of a form, you could have a block of text with a call to action button. Obviously this is going to be extremely simple, and fairly limited in terms of design, but sometimes this is enough to get the job done.

Option 2: Design a theme, code it for WordPress

As mentioned before, the only difference between a squeeze page and a WordPress squeeze page, is the back end. That means you could design a landing page (or have one designed) as you would normally, and instead of having it coded in basic XHTML/CSS, you’d opt to have it coded and implemented in WordPress. This will take longer / cost more but you’re going to end up with all of the flexibility you have in mind, since you have total control right off the bat.

A good idea for this route, especially if you’re paying to have it done, would be to have your WordPress squeeze page designed in a way that will allow you to use it many times for many offers. So, when you think about your design description, make sure you put some thought into ways you can “recycle” the design. Some ideas would be to make an easy to change image area, an easy way to change colors, easy ways to test different copy and change headlines, and so on.
